Introduction
Resting B**** Face (RBF) is an unintentional facial phenomenon that affects thousands of people around the world. Although medical professionals are still not sure ‘why’ this happens, it has been confirmed that it is a naturally occurring condition generally influenced by genetics and environmental factors. While the term is typically used to describe a woman who looks mad or not “smiley,” after a revolutionary study using FaceReader technology, it has been determined that RBF is equally present in men.
Some of the more common attributes of RBF include:
In addition to no longer looking like you have RBF, many of our Hawaii patients have cited the following additional benefits:
Now that we know this condition is gender-blind and not an active, expressive choice, what can be done to alter this look? Dermal fillers and neuromodulator injections are typically combined to treat RBF by reducing wrinkles and fine lines and providing additional volume in certain areas for a truly transformative treatment.
Anyone who feels unhappy with their facial appearance, particularly a negative-looking resting face, is a great candidate for an RBF treatment in Hawaii. We expect our prospective patients to maintain realistic expectations, come in with a positive attitude toward cosmetic treatments, aren’t allergic to the injectable’s ingredients, and be in good general health.
If you are currently pregnant or breastfeeding, this treatment may not be right for you at this time. Please feel free to schedule your consultation with Dr. Schlesinger, who can provide more accurate advice.
First Steps
If you’ve been told to “smile more” or are constantly asked “what’s wrong,” an RBF treatment at PRP Center Hawaii might just be for you. After scheduling your consultation, you will come into our relaxing practice and meet with either Dr. Schlesinger or one of our highly trained injectionists. They will examine your face and determine the problematic areas, discuss which product and technique will improve your appearance, and answer any questions you may have. You will also be asked about your medical history and lifestyle, so it’s important to be open with your provider so they can make well-informed decisions and avoid unnecessary complications.
If you agree with the treatment plan we create for you, we can administer your injections immediately after the treatment, or our patient coordinator can help you schedule an appointment for a time and day that better suits you.
The treatment will be performed in our practice and, as mentioned above, can be performed immediately after your consultation.
First, Dr. Schlesinger administers a numbing agent to the target area to alleviate discomfort. A cold compress may also be used to numb the area.
Dr. Schlesinger will then administer specific amounts of the filler and neuromodulator using a fine needle. The exact treatment areas he injects will be discussed and confirmed during your consultation so there are no surprises. After the injections, Dr. Schlesinger will carefully examine the treatment areas, only adding and using what he needs to provide you with a happier but natural facial appearance.
You may be given an ice pack to apply to the treated area to reduce the risk of bruising and swelling. We may have you stick around about 10 minutes after your treatment to ensure you don’t have any adverse reactions to the injectables, but this will be at your provider’s discretion.
After your RBF treatment, you will be able to resume most of your regular routine, but there are a few things to keep in mind during the initial recovery period that will ensure long-lasting and satisfying results, such as:
Swelling or soreness at the injection site can be expected but alleviated with an ice pack or an over-the-counter medication Dr. Schlesinger can advise on.
What is the cost?
The cost of RBF Treatment in Hawaii will vary on numerous factors, including the injectable you use, how much is required, and the area(s) being treated. The best way to learn the total cost of your treatment is to come in for a consultation and have your treatment plan created. Our patient coordinator will be able to provide you with a total cost breakdown and discuss your financing options.
